CPI(M) KARNATAKA ON YEDIYURAPPA’S RESIGNATION

By submitting the one line resignation, though belated, Shri B.S.Yediyurappa has fallen in line with the demands of his own All India leadership.  And they had no option but to make such a demand as they had to face the situation when the Parliament re-open tomorrow. Neither Yediyurappa nor the National Leaders of BJP seems to be convinced genuinely that the Lokayukta Report submitted last week in Karnataka indicting Shri Yediyurappa and several other Ministers of his cabinet is to be acted upon.  Even as the demands of people across political divide and so called civil society seemed to gravitate towards elimination of corruption and punishing the guilty, BJP had been publicly expressing its desire to continue the exposure of those who are presently in Power at All India Level.  It is just to limit their vulnerability under such a situation they have maintained the pressure against the beleaguered Chief Minister.

We have to keep our fingers crossed as to what steps the new dispensation in Karnataka will be, with the central leadership seemingly obliging the demands of Mr.Yediyurappa to call the shots.  The new dispensation as obtained by Mr.Yediyurappa and other Ministers who are directly affected by the Lakayukta Report on illegal mining is bound to put serious hurdles in pursuit of justice to punish the guilty after a fair trial.

CPI(M) , other leftists and everyone who us genuinely in fighting corruption and desirous of ensuring that justice is done and the guilty are punished after a fair trial cannot be happy that the All India leadership of BJP succumbs to the pressures to save their Government in the State.

The real alternative is dissolution of the assembly and elections, which is expected to bring about a Government that will be able to not only discharge its just functions to prosecute the guilty but also administer the state effectively and provide relief to the people, which is very much the need of the hour.
